Texas men’s golf isn’t just chasing an NCAA Championship. The Longhorns are chasing PGA TOUR futures.
With the 2025-26 college golf season down to its final stretch, Texas enters the Bryan Regional at Traditions Club as a No. 1 seed and one of the most dangerous teams in the country.
Even better, the Longhorns have three players sitting inside the top six of the PGA TOUR University Ranking.
That’s a monster setup.
Christiaan Maas leads the Texas charge at No. 2 nationally, sitting just 25 points behind Virginia’s Ben James for the top spot. The stakes couldn’t be much bigger. The No. 1 finisher earns PGA TOUR membership, while players ranked Nos. 2-10 earn Korn Ferry Tour status.
Maas has been closing fast, thanks to five top-three finishes and a victory. James has held the No. 1 ranking all season, but this race is absolutely not over. If Maas keeps applying pressure, the national championship could turn into a Texas-Virginia heavyweight fight with a PGA TOUR card hanging in the balance.
And Texas isn’t a one-man operation.
Tommy Morrison is No. 4 in the PGA TOUR University Ranking, while Luke Potter sits at No. 6. That gives the Longhorns three elite college players with professional status within reach. In a postseason built on pressure, that kind of firepower travels.
The Bryan Regional won’t be soft, either. SMU’s William Sides is ranked No. 5 nationally and will compete as an individual qualifier, while Tennessee’s Lance Simpson and New Mexico’s Mesa Falleur add even more bite to the field.
The mission for Texas is clear: finish inside the top five teams and advance to the NCAA Division I Men’s National Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

From there, the chase gets louder.
Texas has the ranking, the depth and the star power to make a national title run. Maas has a real shot to steal the PGA TOUR University crown.
Now the Longhorns have to go prove it.
