Texas football is already working deep into the future, and Steve Sarkisian has a major in-state target coming to Austin.
Ty McCurry, a 2028 offensive tackle from Southlake Carroll High School, is scheduled to visit Texas on Sunday.
For the Longhorns, this isn’t just another early recruiting stop. It’s a chance to get face time with one of the more intriguing young linemen in the state before his recruitment gets even louder.
McCurry is rated as a three-star prospect and ranked by 247Sports as the No. 39 offensive tackle in the 2028 class.
He is also listed as the No. 66 player in Texas, which already makes him a name to watch in a loaded recruiting footprint.
And Texas is not alone.
McCurry has already picked up offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Florida, Ole Miss, Purdue, Texas A&M, USC and Tulsa.
That list tells you plenty. Programs across the SEC, Big 12 and beyond see the frame, upside and developmental runway.
The Longhorns need to make the weekend count.
Texas is still searching for its first commitment in the 2028 class, but Sarkisian and his staff have been aggressive with early targets.
The Longhorns have already offered several four-star prospects, including James Foster, Neimann Lawrence, Ian Thomas, Brysen Wright, Tytan McNeal and Austin Attalah.
McCurry may not carry that same star count yet, but offensive tackle recruiting is different.
Projection matters. Feet matter. Length matters. Development matters.
Getting a player like McCurry on campus early gives Texas a real chance to shape the relationship before the race gets messy.

He won’t be the only prospect visiting soon. Texas is also expected to host players such as Ty Winn, John Meredith and Montre Jackson over the next month.
Still, McCurry’s visit is one to circle. If Texas wants to keep elite offensive line talent home, Southlake Carroll is exactly the kind of place where the Longhorns need to win.
