Texas Longhorns baseball is moving on, and Aiden Robbins made sure the Austin Regional ended with a burnt-orange thunderclap.
Texas beat UC Santa Barbara 6-4 on Sunday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, winning the NCAA Austin Regional and advancing to the Super Regionals for the 14th time in program history.
Next up is a monster matchup with No. 11 national seed Oregon, which rolled through the Eugene Regional without a loss.
Texas trailed by a run in the seventh when Robbins stepped in and changed the entire night.
After taking four pitches, the junior unloaded a 406-foot two-run homer to right-center field, flipping the game and giving Texas a 4-3 lead.
It was his fourth home run of the regional and 23rd of the season. That’s not just clutch. That’s main-character postseason stuff.
Ethan Mendoza helped Texas create breathing room in the eighth, driving in a run with a double before scoring later in the inning.
UC Santa Barbara answered in the bottom half and made things sweaty in the ninth, loading the bases with the season on the edge.
Luke Harrison shut the door. After throwing 50 pitches in a Friday start against Holy Cross, Harrison came back and recorded the final out for his first save since 2022.
Thomas Burns was huge in relief, retiring all five batters he faced and striking out three.
Texas finished the regional by outscoring opponents 41-7.
The Longhorns hit .376 with a .493 on-base percentage, a .761 slugging percentage and 12 home runs. The pitching staff posted a 2.00 ERA.
Robbins was named Most Outstanding Player after hitting .429 with four homers, nine RBI and a ridiculous 1.815 OPS.
