Texas Longhorns Recruiting: Five-Star WR Easton Royal Draws Visits but Stays Firm cover image

Florida and Tennessee court five-star WR Easton Royal, but the Texas commit remains locked in, planning return visits and solidifying his future in burnt orange.

Momentum continues to build for the Texas Longhorns in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and one of the biggest reasons is five-star wide receiver Easton Royal.

The Mississippi standout committed to Texas in November, and while his recruitment isn’t completely quiet, the Longhorns remain firmly in control.

Royal is expected to take spring visits to Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers, giving both SEC programs a chance to make their pitch.

Florida’s visit is a rescheduled trip after weather issues canceled an earlier opportunity, while Tennessee continues to evaluate every elite receiver in the region. Even so, there’s little indication that Texas fans should be concerned.

Since locking in his pledge, Royal has consistently reinforced his commitment to the Longhorns. He is also slated to return to Austin for an official visit later this spring, which will give head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff another opportunity to strengthen an already solid relationship.

That visit is expected to play a key role in solidifying Royal’s vision for his future in burnt orange.

Prior to committing, he held offers from national powers including LSU, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Auburn, and Baylor. Ultimately, he saw Texas as the best fit for development, opportunity, and offensive creativity.

Ranked as the No. 4 wide receiver in the 2027 class and the No. 24 overall prospect nationally by 247Sports, Royal brings size, route polish, and explosiveness that make him a nightmare for defensive backs. His ability to win one-on-one matchups is exactly what Sarkisian covets in his offense.

Florida and Tennessee will keep pushing, but Texas is well-positioned. If things hold, Easton Royal projects as a cornerstone of the Longhorns’ passing attack when the 2027 season arrives.
