Dallas eyes Texas defender Trey Moore. His combine meeting reveals impressive coaching energy, hinting at a potential homecoming with the Cowboys.

The NFL scouting combine is in full swing, and several key Texas stars are taking center stage.

One worth watching is defensive end Trey Moore.

Coming off a 2025 season that saw Moore play 12 games and register 5.0 tackles for loss and three sacks, Moore will have plenty of suitors once the draft begins.

One team that has eyes on the standout is the Dallas Cowboys.

Moore has had a formal meeting with the Cowboys this week, and one big takeaway the defensive end had was the energy of the coaching staff.

That has been a staple of head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s group, with the culture being built becoming noticeable.

For Moore, he has the sort of college seasons that will make the ears of the Cowboys prick up, but also other teams looking for defensive end help.

In 2022, Moore posted a whopping 18.0 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks for UTSA, and followed that up in 2023 with 17.5 tackles for loss, but this time, 14.0 sacks as he was a menace on the defensive line.

He won the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year after finishing with an impressive 14 sacks and one interception.

Moore then transferred to Texas before the 2024 season.

His production dropped a little in 2024, with 9.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, before dropping again in 2025.

But make no mistake, the talent is there, and the Cowboys do have a need at defensive end.

It isn’t known if Jadeveon Clowney is going to fit new coordinator Christian Parker’s defense, or if Sam Williams will be coming back as a potential free agent.

This is where Moore (6-3, 250) could find his footing as a Day 3 pick in the NFL Draft.

Perhaps the biggest arrow in the Texas defender’s quiver is his ability to be multiple, and with the NFL shifting into a world where players need to be able to play more than one position, Moore, who by trade is a defensive end, but during his time at Texas, also played off-ball linebacker.

So, there are a host of Texas stars to watch at the scouting combine in Indianapolis, and for Moore, he will have a lot of eyes on him as the week goes on.

With maybe a homecoming with the Cowboys on the cards.
