The Texas Longhorns are wasting no time reshaping their offensive staff after a disappointing year on the ground.
According to multiple reports, Texas has parted ways with running backs coach Chad Scott after just one season, a move that comes on the heels of one of the least productive rushing campaigns of the Steve Sarkisian era.
For the first time since Sarkisian took over in Austin, Texas failed to produce a 1,000-yard rusher and had just one 100-yard rushing performance all season.
In an offense that has typically leaned on balance and explosive run plays, that kind of drop-off was always going to trigger changes. Scott became the first domino.
The next one could be a splash.
Per a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, former Florida running backs coach Jabbar Juluke is "among the possibilities" to replace Scott.
Juluke, who also held the title of associate head coach with the Gators, brings a reputation as a strong recruiter, technician, and locker-room leader. Kentucky has also shown interest in Juluke after hiring new head coach Will Stein, so Texas may have competition if it decides to push hard.
Juluke's candidacy, however, comes with an intriguing subplot that has Longhorn fans buzzing ... Florida running back Jadan Baugh.
If Texas hires Juluke, it would immediately fuel speculation that the Longhorns are making a calculated move to lure Baugh through the transfer portal.
Texas already got a painful glimpse of his ability this fall when Baugh gashed the Longhorn defense for 107 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries in Florida’s 29-21 win, adding three receptions for 16 yards.
Baugh didn't stop there. He closed the regular season by shredding Florida State for 266 yards and two scores on 38 carries, finishing 2025 with 1,170 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 220 attempts.
Those are workhorse numbers that would instantly upgrade any backfield in the country.
For Texas, pairing Baugh with emerging back Quintrevion Wisner would create one of the nastiest one-two punches in college football.
Wisner has already proven he can elevate his game in big moments and is a clear culture fit in Austin, bringing toughness and physicality that Sarkisian loves. Adding Baugh wouldn't replace Wisner ... it would supercharge him and the entire offense.
Nothing is official yet, but if the Longhorns lock in Juluke, it might not just be a coaching hire. It could be the first move in a full-on backfield reboot.
