Texas quarterback commit Ty Knutson earned an Elite 11 Finals invite, giving the Longhorns’ 2027 pledge a major recruiting boost.
Texas football commit Ty Knutson is getting a major national spotlight this summer.
The 2027 quarterback from Spring Branch Smithson Valley has earned an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles, one of the most respected showcases for high school quarterbacks.
Knutson becomes the 12th Texas quarterback pledge to receive an Elite 11 invite.
The 6-3, 202-pound passer committed to Texas in February and is currently rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.
That ranking may not last long. Knutson is listed at No. 496 overall and No. 33 among quarterbacks, but his rise through spring camp season suggests he could climb when recruiting services update their rankings.
Knutson earned his spot after a strong showing at the Elite 11 Regional in Dallas.
He joins Michigan State commit Kamden Lopati as one of the final two quarterbacks added to the 20-player finals roster.
For Texas coach Steve Sarkisian, the invite is another sign the Longhorns may have found real value early in the 2027 class. Knutson chose Texas over offers from Houston, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, TCU and Texas A&M.
Texas also has recent Elite 11 success to sell. Freshman quarterback Dia Bell won MVP honors at last year’s event, becoming the first Longhorns pledge to claim the award.
Now Knutson gets his chance to compete against some of the best quarterbacks in the country during three days of training and competition in June.
For a Texas recruiting class still taking shape, Knutson’s invitation is a strong early headline.
His ranking says three-star for now, but his spring momentum is starting to tell a bigger story.
