Texas softball earned the No. 2 national seed and will host Wagner, Baylor and Wisconsin in the Austin Regional at McCombs Field.

Texas softball is heading into the 2026 NCAA Tournament with serious momentum and one of the best seeds in program history.

The Longhorns were awarded the No. 2 national seed Sunday night and will host the Austin Regional from May 15-17 at McCombs Field. Texas enters the postseason at 42-10 after winning the program’s first SEC Tournament Championship, beating No. 2 Alabama 7-1 on May 9 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Texas will open regional play Friday, May 15, against Wagner, which enters at 22-26. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT on ESPN+. It’ll be the first meeting between Texas and Wagner in program history. Before that matchup, Baylor and Wisconsin will meet at 12:30 p.m. CT, also on ESPN+.

The winner of the Austin Regional will advance to face the winner of the College Station Regional, setting up the possibility of a massive in-state Super Regional matchup if Texas and Texas A&M both advance.

This is the second-highest NCAA Tournament seed Texas has ever received, trailing only the No. 1 overall seed the Longhorns earned in 2024. Last season, Texas was the No. 6 national seed and turned that run into the program’s first Women’s College World Series championship, going 10-2 in the postseason.

The Longhorns are making their 26th NCAA Tournament appearance and their 21st straight trip to the field. Texas is 57-30 all-time in NCAA regional play and has reached the tournament every season under head coach Mike White.

White has now led Texas to six top-13 national seeds, including four consecutive national seeds and three straight top-six seeds.
