Texas softball rode Katie Stewart’s four RBIs and Teagan Kavan’s shutout to crush Arizona State and win a dramatic elimination game.

Texas softball was staring straight at disaster, then flipped the entire weekend into a statement.

After dropping the opener to Arizona State and nearly running out of outs in Game 2, the Longhorns found their pulse when Victoria Hunter blasted a go-ahead two-run homer as a pinch-hitter.

That swing forced Game 3. Then Texas showed up with no interest in drama.

The Longhorns beat Arizona State 5-0 in the deciding game, riding Katie Stewart’s clutch bat and Teagan Kavan’s cold-blooded response in the circle.

For a team fighting to keep its Women’s College World Series dream alive, this was exactly the kind of win that changes the temperature.

Stewart delivered the first punch in the third inning, shooting a single into center field to bring home Ashton Maloney and Jaycie Nichols. Just like that, Texas had a 2-0 lead and all the oxygen shifted away from the Sun Devils.

The Longhorns didn’t let up. In the fifth, Viviana Martinez ripped a triple into right field, scoring Kayden Henry and stretching the lead to 3-0. One inning later, Stewart struck again with a two-run single to right, driving in Ann Wallace and Henry for the final 5-0 margin.

Four RBIs in an elimination game? That’s not just timely hitting. That’s takeover stuff.

And Kavan made sure it held.

After battling through a rocky start to the series, the reigning WCWS MVP looked every bit like the ace Texas needed.

She threw a complete-game shutout and silenced an Arizona State lineup that had been dangerous all weekend.

That’s the difference between good teams and dangerous ones. Texas didn’t panic. It absorbed the pressure, punched back and finished the job.

Now the Longhorns move forward with momentum, confidence and a reminder for the rest of the field.

Texas softball isn’t done. Not even close.
