Led by star power like Colin Simmons and newcomer Cam Coleman, the Longhorns dominate preseason honors, signaling a powerhouse roster ready to challenge for the conference crown.

The Texas Longhorns have spent the entire offseason being mentioned among college football's elite.

Ahead of the 2026 campaign, Texas tied LSU for the most selections on AL.com's 80th annual Preseason All-SEC Team, placing four players on the 25-man squad. Wide receiver Cam Coleman, offensive tackle Trevor Goosby, defensive lineman Colin Simmons and linebacker Rasheem Biles all earned recognition.

The recognition comes less than two months before Texas opens its season against Texas State — and only reinforces the championship expectations surrounding the Longhorns.

Coleman is perhaps the most intriguing name on the list.

Goosby's selection comes after a breakout 2025 campaign.

Defensively, Texas is represented by two players expected to anchor one of the nation's top units.

Simmons has looked like a future first-round NFL Draft pick since arriving in Austin. Through two seasons, he's racked up 91 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 21 sacks and six forced fumbles ... production that's made him one of college football's premier edge rushers.

Biles is the lone newcomer among Texas' representatives after transferring from Pittsburgh this offseason.

He's expected to replace Anthony Hill after posting 101 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and three defensive touchdowns in 2025.

Texas wasn't alone at the top of the preseason team. LSU also placed four players on the All-SEC squad, while Alabama, Oklahoma and Ole Miss each landed three selections.

With two months remaining until kickoff, the preseason honors only reinforce what many already believed — the road to an SEC championship may very well run through Austin and Baton Rouge.

One notable Longhorn, however, didn't crack the preseason team.

Arch Manning received votes but was edged out by Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss for the conference's lone quarterback spot despite his strong finish to the 2025 season.

If Texas lives up to expectations this fall, don't expect Manning to stay off lists like this for long.
