Three former Longhorns chase Super Bowl glory. Discover how these Texas standouts impact the Patriots-Seahawks championship clash.

The stage for Super Bowl LX is set.

The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will battle for the coveted Lombardi Trophy at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, after both won their respective conference championship games in thrilling fashion.

Of the 106 players set to compete in America's biggest sporting event, three are former Longhorns. This will be the 20th time a former Texas player has featured in the Super Bowl in the past 21 years.

The year that didn't include a former Longhorn was 2023, when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

Brendan Schooler, Patriots#

Schooler is the lone former Longhorn on the Patriots roster, and he features mainly on special teams, earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2024.

Schooler has had another productive year this season, totaling 19 total tackles, including 11 solo tackles.

His name will not be called on a ton in this year's Super Bowl, but he plays a crucial role in the Patriots' special teams success. Who knows, maybe Schooler will be the ace up New England's sleeves come Feb. 8.

Byron Murphy, Seahawks#

Nose tackle Byron Murphy has been at the heart of Seattle's stout run defense this season, just as he was at Texas alongside T'Vondre Sweat.

Drafted in the first round in 2024, Murphy was an instant contributor for the Seahawks and has only continued to level up. In 2025, he started all 17 regular-season games, anchoring Seattle's defensive line and helping them to the league's third-ranked rushing defense.

Murphy totaled 62 tackles in the regular season, 21 of them counted as solo. He's also emerged as a major pass-rushing threat, sacking opposing quarterbacks seven times.

Michael Dickson, Seahawks#

The Patriots have a former Longhorn dominating on special teams, so it's only fair the Seahawks do as well, right?

Dickson has consistently been one of the league's best punters since being drafted in 2018. This season was no different as he ranked No. 7 among punters in yards per punt, averaging 49 yards per kick.

Dickson earned second-team All-Pro honors this season, the second time he's earned such honors(first-team All-Pro in 2018).

He may just be a punter, but as we saw in the 2017 Texas Bowl, punters can win MVPs, too.
