As Donald Trump heads to Neyland Stadium, the former president dismisses the top-ranked Longhorns and sparks a family feud by taking aim at quarterback Arch Manning.
In this season which is already trending toward magical, the Texas Longhorns produced a first by rallying from 20 points behind to defeat the No. 1-ranked team in the country.
To keep the momentum going, however, all Texas has to do is repeat something it’s already done. Win a showdown in front of the President of the United States, just like 57 years ago.
1969: Richard Nixon. 2026: Donald Trump.
In the previous “Game of the Century” at Arkansas, Nixon arrived via helicopter, joined ABC’s booth for an interview during the game and then sat in the open stands alongside spectators. Texas won, 15-14, and went on to win the National Championship.
No. 1-ranked Texas vs. No. 13 Tennessee Saturday at Neyland Stadium isn’t quite that big of a spectacle. ... Though it’s trying its best. The SEC opener is drawing ESPN’s College Gameday to town, and now Trump has announced he will be attending.
It was rumored that Trump might even join the ESPN crew as a guest picker, but it seems "Johnny Knoxville'' will now have that honor.
The President has attended many sporting events including the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series, Daytona 500 and last year’s college National Championship Game.
In what appeared to be a post to his social media, Trump predicted a Tennessee victory.
Considering he was chummy with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and signed a bunch of helmets before the team’s Week 1 loss to the New York Giants, maybe Trump picking the Volunteers is a good omen for Texas.
In his trademark hyperbolic style, Trump seemingly called Neyland Stadium the “loudest and greatest stadium in the world,” said its namesake the “greatest military general of all-time Robert Neyland” and then flat-out picked against the 5-point-favorite Longhorns.
“The fake new (sic) media has ranked Texas 1,” Trump allegedly wrote, “but I think (Tennessee quarterback) Faizon Brandon and the Vols will win Biggly!”
Trump, in this screenshot, also allegedly took a swipe at Texas quarterback Arch Manning, calling the “not as great nephew” of Tennessee alum Peyton Manning.
Ah, but now it seems this post was a fake ... though real enough in zany content to fool the masses.
This game will be the Longhorns’ biggest challenge until November. ... a month that's both "biggly'' in football ... and in politics.
