Manning is projected to be among the elite of the 2027 draft class, which means he'll likely go off the board rather quickly.
I think most college football fans can agree that Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning is already penciled in as a top prospect in the 2027 draft.
It's just a matter of where he goes in the first couple of selections.
In the several mock drafts I've seen be put out, they range from Arch going No. 1 to No. 3 as teams are desperate for a franchise quarterback to lead them out of the NFL duldroms.
Manning has everything needed to be "that" guy, but as we know in the NFL, where you get drafted to matters.
Would Patrick Mahomes be the star he is if he were drafted to Jacksonville? I highly doubt it.
So where Arch goes could determine what sort of NFL career he could have, and Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski has him going at No. 2 to the New York Jets in his unique mock draft that has five quarterbacks going with the first five picks.
"Another Manning lands with a New York franchise, albeit with the Jets in this particular case," Sobleski wrote. "Arguments can be made whether Arch Manning is deserving of top consideration, but the growth he showed during his first full season as a starter at Texas implies his ascension will continue into upper echelon status.
"The Jets organization should be salivating over the possibility to not just land a top-shelf quarterback prospect but Manning specifically.?
Now, Arch is already looked at as NFL royalty because of his last name, but if he were to be the one to drag the Jets out of the pit of hell they are in, and bring a championship to the franchise, one could only imagine what that would do to the fan base and his standing in the NFL.
Yes, we are getting ahead of ourselves here, and there is a very real possibility that Manning struggles with the Jets initially because, let's face it, it's the Jets.
But a lot of draft experts are now predicting Arch to be a New York Jet when the 2027 NFL Draft is over, and if that does come to fruition, he's going to have a huge task on his hands to alter the franchise's trajectory.
Many have tried and failed, so maybe it's up to a Manning to be the one to finally do it.
