Texas junior guard/forward Dailyn Swain continues to cement himself as one of the most complete players in the SEC.
The Longhorn standout was named SEC Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Florida guard Xaivian Lee, after delivering another dominant performance in conference play.
It marks Swain’s first career weekly award from the league and adds to what has already been a breakout season in Austin.
Swain powered Texas to an 85-68 road win over Missouri on Saturday, pouring in a game-high 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting.
He knocked down three 3-pointers, went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and added six rebounds, two assists and two steals across 37 minutes. The performance was his eighth 20-point game of the year and the sixth time in 12 SEC contests that he’s eclipsed the 20-point mark.
Through 25 games, Swain has reached double figures in scoring 22 times, showcasing remarkable consistency. He currently leads Texas in scoring (17.6 points per game), rebounding (7.3 rebounds per game), assists (85 total, 3.4 per game), steals (47 total, 1.9 per game) and minutes played (31.6 per game).
According to ESPN Research, he is one of just three players in major conferences to top his team in at least five major statistical categories.
His numbers in SEC play have been even more impressive. Swain is averaging 20.4 points and 7.8 rebounds while shooting 58.5 percent from the field. He’s also converting 36.6 percent from beyond the arc and 83.1 percent at the free-throw line.
Swain, who is on the Midseason Watch List for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award, will look to keep the momentum going when Texas hosts LSU on Tuesday night at Moody Center.
Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
