Texas Tech men’s golf put together another impressive day in paradise, leaning on a red-hot performance from junior Adam Bresnu to climb into the top five at the prestigious Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii.
After two rounds at Mauna Lani’s North Course, the No. 16 Red Raiders sit fifth in the 20-team field, firmly in contention heading into Saturday’s final round.
Bresnu followed up a sparkling opening-round 65 with a bogey-free 67 on Friday, pushing his two-day total to 12-under par.
That score places him tied for seventh individually in a loaded 122-player field. His second round was a model of control and confidence, opening with four birdies in his first six holes before settling into cruise control with a steady run of pars and one more birdie coming home.
Texas Tech’s depth showed once again, as all four counting scores came in under par for the second straight day. Ben Gregg continued his consistent play with a 4-under 68, while Connor Graham added a 3-under 69. Tim Wiedemeyer rounded out the scoring with a 2-under 70, giving the Red Raiders a 14-under team total in round two and a cumulative score of 35-under through 36 holes.
The tournament leaderboard remains tightly packed at the top, though No. 5 Auburn has created some separation.
Auburn enters the final round at 47-under, thanks in large part to an extraordinary showing from Jackson Koivun, who holds the individual lead at 20-under after back-to-back rounds of 62. Stanford, Texas, and Arizona State round out the top four, with Texas Tech right behind them in fifth.
Beyond Bresnu’s charge, Texas Tech has received strong individual contributions across the lineup. Graham sits tied for 17th at 9-under, Gregg is close behind at 8-under, and Wiedemeyer is 6-under through two rounds.
Brady McHenry has also stayed in the red at 1-under, while individuals Simon Hovdal and Price Hill gained valuable experience against one of the strongest fields of the spring.
The final round tees off Saturday with a 7:30 a.m. HT shotgun start (11:30 a.m. CT). With scoring conditions favorable and confidence trending upward, the Red Raiders have positioned themselves for a potential move up the leaderboard ... and Bresnu looks poised to keep pressing near the top of the individual race.
