Lady Raiders Ready for Ranked Showdown as Texas Tech Hosts No. 12 TCU Sunday cover image

The Texas Tech Lady Raiders clash with No. 12 TCU in a pivotal Big 12 showdown, showcasing contrasting strengths and a hunger for a signature home victory.

Texas Tech women’s basketball is set for one of its biggest home tests of the season Sunday afternoon, welcoming No. 12 TCU to United Supermarkets Arena with both teams firmly entrenched in the Big 12 title race.

At 20-3 overall and 7-3 in conference play, the Lady Raiders have turned Lubbock into a tough stop for anyone, posting an impressive 11-2 record on their home floor.

This matchup brings together two contrasting strengths that should make for a fascinating battle. Texas Tech has built its success around balanced scoring and physical play, averaging 73.8 points per game while outscoring opponents by nearly 18 points on the season.

The Lady Raiders are shooting 45.1 percent from the field, a number that will be put to the test against one of the nation’s stingiest defenses.

TCU enters the game allowing just 54.3 points per contest, ranking among the top defensive teams in college basketball.

The Horned Frogs also limit opponents to 32.9 percent shooting, forcing teams to earn every look. That challenge hasn’t slowed Texas Tech much at home, where the Lady Raiders have consistently found ways to control tempo and pressure opponents.

Junior guard Bailey Maupin continues to be a steady presence for Tech, leading the team with 15.3 points per game while also contributing 1.7 steals on the defensive end.

Her ability to attack off the dribble and create offense in transition has been critical during Big 12 play. Snudda Collins has also stepped up recently, averaging 16.2 points over the last 10 games and giving the Lady Raiders another reliable scoring option when defenses key in on Maupin.

TCU is led by star guard Olivia Miles, who comes to Lubbock averaging 19.2 points, seven rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game.

Her all-around impact makes her one of the most dynamic players in the conference. Texas Tech’s defensive discipline will be tested by Miles’ ability to push the pace and create open looks, especially from beyond the arc, where the Horned Frogs average 9.4 made three-pointers per game.

Over their last 10 games, Texas Tech has gone 7-3, holding opponents to 62 points per game while continuing to generate steals and blocks at a high rate. Sunday’s ranked matchup offers the Lady Raiders a chance to make a national statement, protect their home court, and gain valuable ground in the crowded Big 12 race.

If Tech can dictate physicality and knock down shots early, Lubbock could be rocking for a signature win.
