Top-ranked Texas Tech softball continues to look every bit like a national title contender.
The Red Raiders improved to 10-0 on the season Saturday with a dominant 14-1 run-rule victory over NC State, marking their seventh shortened game win already this year.
The combination of elite pitching and relentless offense once again proved too much for an opponent to handle.
Kaitlyn Terry was electric in the circle. The junior left-hander earned her fourth win of the season after tossing five strong innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out eight.
She set the tone immediately by fanning the side on just 12 pitches in the opening frame. Terry has now recorded at least six strikeouts in four consecutive starts - a new personal best stretch that highlights her early-season form.
Offensively, Texas Tech wasted no time jumping ahead.
Mia Williams and Mihyia Davis sparked the lineup from the top two spots, combining for five hits, four runs and four RBI.
Williams reached to start the game and later scored on Davis’ two-run home run to right field, giving the Red Raiders instant momentum. The power surge didn’t stop there.
Desirae Spearman and Jasmyn Burns each launched their second home runs of the season during a three-run third inning, stretching the lead and keeping pressure squarely on the Wolfpack.
By the time Tech erupted for six runs in the fourth - highlighted by a string of singles, a walk and an NC State error - the outcome was all but sealed.
Lauren Allred, Alana Johnson and Terry also contributed hits as nine of Texas Tech’s 10 batters reached base safely in a balanced offensive showcase.
Next up, the Red Raiders face JMU at 3:30 p.m. CT on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend against No. 8 Nebraska.
If this start is any indication, Texas Tech softball is setting the pace nationally — and daring the rest of the country to keep up.
