Texas Tech women’s basketball walked into Boulder red-hot and ranked No. 20 in the country. They left with a frustrating 75-68 loss after letting Colorado dictate the gritty details that decide games in February.
The Lady Raiders (24-5, 11-5 Big 12) couldn’t have asked for a cleaner shooting night.
They blistered the nets at 58 percent from the floor, one of their most efficient performances of the season. Jalynn Bristow powered the effort with 18 points and four blocks, owning the paint on both ends.
Snudda Collins added 13 points, and Bailey Maupin chipped in 12, including a clutch 3-pointer that briefly gave Tech life in the final 90 seconds.
But Texas Tech coughed the ball up 17 times while Colorado turned those mistakes into 27 points. Ballgame.
Desiree Wooten was the difference-maker, stuffing the stat sheet with 19 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Every time Tech made a push, Wooten answered - none bigger than a pull-up jumper in the closing moments that pushed Colorado back in front for good.
Anaelle Dutat (11 points, eight rebounds) and Zyanna Walker (14 points) added balance as the Buffaloes dominated the offensive glass.
Colorado won the rebounding battle 32-17 and punished Tech 17-2 in second-chance scoring. Even when the Lady Raiders defended well, they couldn’t finish the possession.
To its credit, Tech showed fight. After trailing by eight late in the third quarter, they clawed back and made it a one-possession game in crunch time. But turnovers in the final minute slammed the door.
Now the focus shifts quickly to Kansas. In a tight Big 12 race, there’s no time to sulk ... only respond.
