Here's what to look forward to at home football games in Lubbock.

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech is pulling out all the stops to, as head coach Joey McGuire says time and time again, make the Red Raiders' home atmosphere one of the toughest places to play across the college football map.

The Tech athletics department released pertinent fan information ahead of the Red Raiders' first game of the season, a night contest against Abilene Christian at Galaxy Stadium here in Lubbock.

The rundown includes notices of road closures and entrance policies, but also the exciting fan experiences that are available at the home of the Red Raiders, which begins its first season known as "The Galaxy".

In late August, Texas Tech announced that it would uphold the tradition of "The Jones," what the stadium was referred to as for decades in honor of former university president and visionary Clifford B. Jones.

Inside the stadium, the often-rowdy student section will now be referred to as "The Jones Student Section at Galaxy Stadium."

"For all President Jones and his wife Audrey accomplished during Texas Tech's early years, we found it only fitting to recognize the impact he made on generations of Red Raiders by naming our student section in their honor," athletic director Kirby Hocutt said.

Drone shows are back!

Texas Tech is bringing back postgame drone shows for night home games, such as this Saturday's opener.

"Texas Tech will once again light up the sky in between the third and fourth quarters with three drone shows already planned for the 2026 season," the announcement read.

"All three of Texas Tech's scheduled night games thus far against Abilene Christian, Houston [Sep. 18] and TCU [Nov. 29] will feature a different drone show plus plenty of fireworks for each time the Red Raiders find the end zone this season."

Red Raider Royalty

Texas Tech students have a new, streamlined way to get early access to high-profile athletic events on campus, allowing them to skip the long pregame lines.

RedRaiderRoundtable.com is told that the initiative is already very successful and has gained popularity among students quickly ... as is evident of Tech's large soccer crowds since the Red Raiders' season has started on the pitch.

The school recently unveiled a program called Red Raider Loyalty, which tracks students' attendance at all athletic events in the school's app, earning them points and greater chances of reserving exclusive tickets earlier than their peers.

The promotion gives students the chance to skip the long game day lines outside the stadium by quickly redeeming tickets to the most sought-after sports, such as football and men's basketball, after racking up points at games across the athletic calendar.

"We're excited to debut the Red Raider Loyalty program with our student body this fall," said Grayson King the incoming Student Body President at Texas Tech and former Red Raiders football walk-on.

Pregame Festivals at Red Raider Alley

Texas Tech's fan-favorite tailgating scene in the Engineering Key returns with a pregame concert ahead of each home football game.

Headlining the season-opener show is Josh Abbot Band. The band will take the stage around 4 p.m., with kickoff slated for 6 p.m.
