The decision keeps the quarterback’s playing future in the hands of a judge after arguments in Sorsby’s civil case were heard on June 1.
For Texas Tech, this isn’t just a roster issue. It’s a timing issue.
Sorsby’s next move could depend on how quickly the court acts. If the judge rules in his favor, he could potentially regain a path to play for the Red Raiders in 2026.
If not, his college career may be over before he ever gets that chance in Lubbock.
The NCAA has maintained that Sorsby’s gambling history makes him ineligible to compete again, and its latest decision signals the organization isn’t interested in softening that stance.
