Donovan Atwell parlayed a record-smashing Texas Tech season into a Chicago Bulls Exhibit 10 deal, giving the NBA Summer League another shooter to fear in Vegas.

Donovan Atwell is taking his flamethrower jumper from Texas Tech to the Chicago Bulls.

After torching the Big 12 and rewriting the Red Raiders’ 3-point record book, Atwell has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Chicago.

That puts the former Texas Tech guard on track to join the Bulls in Las Vegas for NBA Summer League from July 9-19, where his job will be simple: shoot it, prove it, and make somebody in the organization uncomfortable about letting him go.

Atwell didn’t spend long in Lubbock, but he made sure nobody would forget the year.

The Huntersville, North Carolina native drilled 130 3-pointers during his lone season at Texas Tech, smashing the previous program single-season record of 92 that had lasted nearly three decades.

He was even nastier in conference play, where he buried 81 3-pointers against Big 12 competition.

That set a new league record and passed the old mark of 79 set by Oklahoma legend Buddy Hield during the 2015-16 season.

When you’re jumping Buddy Hield on a shooting list, NBA teams are going to notice.

Atwell finished the season shooting 130-for-284 from beyond the arc, a ridiculous 45.8 percent clip, while averaging 13.5 points per game.

He led the Big 12 with 3.82 made 3-pointers per contest and ranked second nationally in both 3-point percentage and total makes.

Atwell started all 34 games for Texas Tech and scored in double figures 25 times.

He hit five or more 3-pointers in 12 games, including a 6-for-9 performance in a 26-point showing against Kansas State and a 7-for-10 eruption at Baylor.

He also knocked down six triples in a road win over No. 4 Iowa State and added four more in Texas Tech’s NCAA Tournament win over Akron.

Before becoming a Red Raider, Atwell spent three seasons at UNC Greensboro.

Across 128 college games, he finished with 1,348 points, 341 made 3-pointers, 331 rebounds, 92 steals and an 89.6 percent mark at the free-throw line.

Exhibit 10 contracts don’t guarantee an NBA roster spot, but they do open the door to Summer League, training camp and a chance to stick in an organization.

Give Atwell space and rhythm, and the Bulls might quickly learn what Texas Tech already knows: this dude can flat-out shoot.
