Despite quarterback uncertainty, the Red Raiders boast a powerhouse roster and favorable schedule. Discover why oddsmakers project double-digit wins and a potential path to the postseason.

As Yahoo points out, sportsbooks now offer bigger multi-team "To Make The College Football Playoffs'' odds.

That's a change.

Meanwhile, there is a Brendan Sorsby-related question regarding "change'' in Lubbock. ...

How much does the presumed starting QB's gambling controversy impact what oddsmakers think of Texas Tech's CFP chances in 2026?

What are those odds?

There is a "seven-point downgrade from last year's team,'' writes Yahoo, while noting that the Red Raiders' odds of making the playoffs are set at -160 at FanDuel.

Writes Yahoo: Our "power ratings still project the Texas Tech Red Raiders to be favored in every game this season by double digits. ...

"The Red Raiders are projected to win 10.6 games, which is the second-highest mark in the country behind Notre Dame.''

And Yahoo adds a twist here regarding where to place your friendly bet ... and why, noting that Texas Tech “only” has the eighth-best chance to make the playoffs. ...

And maybe, just maybe, that's stealin' money.

Part of the attraction to betting on the Red Raiders' overall success in 2025? They avoid having to play BYU and Utah, predicted to be the next best teams in the Big 12.

So it's a bit of a softer schedule (don't tell Longhorns coach Sark we said that) and the roster remains powerful, as Texas Tech is slated to return 12 starters from last year's successful squad.

The Red Raiders under coach Joey McGuire are also welcoming 10 transfers who figure to play prominent roles in Lubbock.

Can Tech win the Big 12? Can Tech go undefeated? And even if the Red Raiders go to the Big 12 conference title game and lose, could they still make it into the CFP field?

Yahoo suggests that latter scenario will end up being in play ... after a season during which double-digit wins might be a weekly happening - whether Sorsby is on the team or not.
