Mia Williams answered a hostile Gainesville return with a home run, helping Texas Tech crush Florida and reach the Women’s College World Series.

Mia Williams didn’t need a revenge speech. Her bat handled it.

Texas Tech softball punched its ticket to Oklahoma City and the Women’s College World Series with a thunderous Game 3 win over Florida, and Williams sat right in the middle of the storm.

The former Gator returned to Gainesville wearing Red Raiders colors, took the heat, absorbed the spotlight and still helped deliver the kind of statement win that echoes.

This wasn’t just another Super Regional. It was personal, loud and loaded with emotion.

Williams entered the weekend as one of the most dangerous players in college softball, hitting .435 with 24 home runs, 22 doubles, 82 RBI and 21 stolen bases.

Add in the transfer storyline, the Florida crowd and a trip to OKC on the line, and the pressure got ridiculous fast.

Then came the hit-by-pitches.

Williams was plunked five times over three games, adding even more tension to a series already boiling over. But when Florida finally gave her something to hit, she punished it. Williams homered in Game 3, turning the moment from uncomfortable to unforgettable.

Texas Tech coach Gerry Glasco didn’t dance around it afterward. He backed Williams, defended the reality of modern college athletics and made it clear he thought the attention around her transfer was overblown.

His bigger point was simple: players transfer all the time, and Williams didn’t deserve to become the villain for making her move.

Her teammates clearly agreed.

Texas Tech responded like a team with a message to send, launching five home runs and scoring 16 runs in a run-rule beatdown of the Gators. That wasn’t just survival. That was a Red Raiders avalanche.

Florida had the home field. Texas Tech had the louder answer.

Now Williams and the Red Raiders are headed to Oklahoma City, while the Gators are done. In a weekend filled with emotion, bruises and noise, Williams didn’t shrink.

She swung back.
