
Bailey Maupin scored 19 points and added three assists in a 101-47 blowout loss to the No. 2 LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge on Saturday.
The Red Raiders (26-8) were never really in the game as LSU's (29-5) stifling defense held Texas Tech to just 25 percent shooting on the day.
LSU's offense matched its defense with 56 percent shooting and 39 percent from beyond the arc. It was a day that belonged to the Tigers at home, both from the floor and from the foul line.
Texas Tech made 7-of-9 foul shots while LSU made trip after trip after trip with 26 attempts and just two misses.
LSU's defense forced 19 Red Raiders turnovers while committing just 10, and outrebounded Tech 44-27.
LSU held a 43-25 halftime lead, thanks in part to an 11-point second quarter by the Red Raiders during an abysmal shooting performance.
But things got worse after the break.
Tech was outscored 33-7 in the third quarter as the Tigers roared into the fourth quarter with a 76-32 advantage that just expanded during the final frame.
Maupin's 19 points and 37 minutes led her team. No other Red Raider scored in double digits as Snudda Collins scored eight off the bench, Denae Fritz dropped in five along with six rebounds, and Sarengbe Sanogo chipped in five.
LSU had two players hit the 24-point mark in Williams and Flau'jae Johnson in her final collegiate game at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Jada Richard and Kate Koval both dropped in 10 while Koval matched that with 10 rebounds for the game's only double-double.
It was an abrupt and unexpected end to a fine season for coach Krista Gerlich and her squad, but they'll spend the trip back to Lubbock wondering how this one got away from them so quickly.
The LSU Tigers now await their next opponent in the Sweet 16 on Friday night.
