Texas Tech targets Colorado's explosive wideout Omarion Miller to fuel their aggressive portal strategy and continue building a playoff-contending roster.

Texas Tech didn't win the Big 12 and crash the College Football Playoff by playing it safe.

The Red Raiders treated the transfer portal like a competitive advantage in 2025, stacking proven pieces until the roster looked more like an all-star draft than a rebuild.

With a large senior class heading out the door, the next reload is already underway, and one name fits Tech's appetite for explosive upgrades ... Colorado wide receiver Omarion Miller.

Miller announced on Dec. 17 that he plans to enter the portal when it opens on Jan. 2, immediately becoming one of the most intriguing downfield weapons available.

According to reporting tied to On3's transfer intel, Texas Tech is among the early schools to watch, along with Arizona State.

If you're wondering why Tech would swing at this, the production is the billboard.

Miller posted 45 catches for 808 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025, averaging 18.0 yards per reception - big-play output that translates anywhere, but especially in an offense that wants to stress safeties and punish single coverage.

Over three seasons in Boulder, he totaled 66 receptions for 1,258 yards and 10 scores, flashing the kind of profile coaches chase in December.

The fit makes even more sense when you look at the timing.

Tech is staring at turnover out wide, with key veterans aging out and snaps opening for 2026. The Red Raiders already have a reliable chess piece in Coy Eakin, but the offense needs another true outside ball-winner. Someone who can win vertically, draw safety help, and make corners panic.

Miller has primarily lived on the boundary and thrives when he's targeted down the field.

Sure, there are knocks. Effort consistency and drops get mentioned with players like this because the ceiling is so obvious that every flaw looks louder.

But that's also why the portal exists. Tech isn't shopping for perfect. It's shopping for impact.

If the Red Raiders land Miller, it won't be just a nice addition; it'll be a message that Texas Tech plans to stay loud, stay aggressive, and keep building a roster that doesn't blink when the postseason lights hit.
