Texas Tech baseball heads to New Mexico chasing a season sweep, powered by the nation’s top offense and another chance to pile up runs before West Virginia.

Texas Tech baseball heads to Albuquerque on Tuesday with a chance to finish off a season sweep of New Mexico and keep one of the hottest offenses in the country rolling.

The Red Raiders already handled the Lobos 12-2 in Lubbock two weeks ago, and now they’ll try to follow that up on the road before a huge weekend series against No. 17 West Virginia.

The biggest story entering this Texas Tech baseball matchup is still the offense.

Through 31 games, the Red Raiders have turned into one of the most productive lineups in college baseball, leading the nation in batting average at .363, total hits with 406, and doubles with 91.

They’re also scoring 10.6 runs per game, a number that puts them among the top offenses in the country and explains why Tech is only 16 runs away from matching last season’s full-year total of 344.

That kind of firepower starts with players like Caden Ferraro and Tracer Lopez.

Ferraro enters the week hitting .443 with five home runs, 35 RBIs and 14 doubles, while Lopez has climbed to 201 career hits and continues to move up Texas Tech’s all-time record book.

Logan Hughes, Linkin Garcia and Connor Shouse have also helped keep the lineup deep and dangerous.

On the mound, Texas Tech is expected to hand the ball to sophomore right-hander Kaysen Raineri for his first start since arriving in Lubbock.

The Hawaii transfer is 2-0 with a 7.90 ERA and has struck out 19 batters in 13.2 innings across seven appearances. His role on Tuesday will be to give Tech enough length to let the offense take over.

That formula worked the first time these teams met, when the Red Raiders jumped on New Mexico early and never let up.

Tech also saw projected Lobos starter Ethin Woltz in that game and tagged him for four runs, three earned, in just two innings.

Now the Red Raiders get another crack at New Mexico, this time with a sweep on the line and momentum badly needed heading into a pivotal Big 12 weekend.
