Texas Tech baseball returns home to face Houston after a 15-4 win over ACU, bringing one of the nation’s hottest offenses into a key Big 12 series.

Texas Tech baseball heads into another important Big 12 weekend with momentum, confidence and one of the most explosive lineups in the country.

After pounding ACU 15-4 in eight innings on Tuesday, the Red Raiders return to Rip Griffin Park for a three-game series against Houston that feels like a chance to keep climbing in the conference race.

Texas Tech is 17-11 overall and 4-5 in Big 12 play, while Houston arrives at 13-14 and 1-8 in league action. It appears to be a favorable spot for Tim Tadlock’s club, but more than anything, this series is about whether the Red Raiders can keep their offense rolling.

So far, that unit has been relentless.

Texas Tech has already scored 301 runs in 28 games, putting the Red Raiders second nationally in both batting average at .362 and total runs.

That kind of production has changed the shape of the season. A year ago, Tech scored 344 runs across 53 games. This team is threatening that pace before the calendar even flips deep into April.

The lineup is deep, experienced and suddenly loaded with national recognition.

Shortstop Linkin Garcia is hitting .368 with 10 doubles, three home runs and 39 RBIs, while fellow freshman Jesse Rusinek has been a breakout force, batting .446 with a .549 on-base percentage and 21 RBIs.

Connor Shouse has added power and run production, hitting .372 with eight home runs and a team-best 41 RBIs.

Tuesday’s win over ACU showed just how dangerous the order can be. Caden Ferraro went 4-for-5 with two homers, two doubles and four RBIs, and Matt Quintanar and Garcia each added three hits.

Now comes Houston, a team Texas Tech has consistently handled in recent years.

If the Red Raiders keep swinging like this, they’ll have a strong shot to build on that trend and make this home weekend another launching point in the Big 12 race.
