Texas Tech baseball opens a reshuffled week against UIW after an ACU postponement, with Jackson Burns, Tracer Lopez and a dangerous offense in focus.

Texas Tech baseball opens a reshaped Week 10 schedule Wednesday night when the Red Raiders host UIW at Rip Griffin Park in the first meeting between the two programs.

With the ACU game postponed because of weather, Texas Tech now turns its attention to a home matchup that sets the stage for a key road series at Utah later this week.

For the Red Raiders, this game is about more than just filling a date on the schedule. Texas Tech enters at 20-15 and still has a clear path to improve its NCAA Tournament resume.

The Red Raiders sit at No. 95 in the RPI, and their closing stretch is packed with opportunities against top-100 opponents, making every win increasingly important.

Texas Tech’s offense has been one of the most productive groups in the country, even during a recent home run drought.

The Red Raiders are still sitting on 43 home runs after going seven straight games without one, but the lineup continues to score in bunches. Tech leads the nation in doubles with 103, ranks second nationally at 10.1 runs per game, and is third in on-base percentage at .452.

That ability to manufacture offense has helped fuel 51 innings this season with three or more runs.

On the mound, Jackson Burns is trending in the right direction at the perfect time. Over his last three starts, the redshirt freshman has thrown 19.2 innings and allowed only five runs, good for a 2.29 ERA in that stretch.

He also delivered 7.2 innings of one-run ball against No. 17 West Virginia over the weekend.

Veteran Tracer Lopez continues to climb the school record book as well. He enters the week with 210 career hits and is hitting .338 this season with 14 doubles.

With UIW visiting Lubbock and Utah waiting next, Texas Tech has a chance to build momentum before the schedule gets even tougher.
