Texas Tech basketball just keeps stacking résumé wins — and the national voters are taking notice.
The Red Raiders moved up to No. 13 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25, marking a program-record 24 consecutive appearances in the poll.
Tech (19-6, 9-3 Big 12) also sits at No. 13 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and checks in at No. 16 in both the NCAA NET rankings and KenPom metrics.
The jump comes on the heels of a statement victory in a 78-75 overtime thriller on the road against then-No. 1 Arizona in Tucson. It was Tech’s third top-10 win of the season, adding to earlier triumphs over No. 3 Duke and No. 6 Houston.
Grant McCasland’s squad has built its identity around offensive efficiency and elite perimeter shooting. Texas Tech leads the Big 12 with 11.5 made 3-pointers per game while shooting 38.9 percent from deep.
The Red Raiders have buried 10 or more triples in 20 of 25 games this season and are already up to 287 made threes - the third-most in a single season in program history.
JT Toppin continues to play at an All-American level. The sophomore forward delivered 31 points and 13 rebounds - including seven offensive boards - in the win over Arizona, recording his 16th double-double of the year.
Toppin leads the Big 12 in rebounds (11.0 per game) and offensive rebounds (4.3 per game) while ranking ninth nationally with 21.9 points per contest. He also leads the country with 226 made field goals.
Christian Anderson orchestrates the offense with poise, averaging 7.7 assists per game - best in the Big 12 and third nationally - while scoring 19.1 points per game. He drilled six 3-pointers against Arizona and now has 84 makes on the season.
Donovan Atwell has been lethal from beyond the arc, connecting on 44.6 percent of his threes and knocking down 90 total, which ranks second in the conference. He’s closing in on the program’s single-season record of 94 set by Cory Carr in 1996-97.
Tech now turns its focus to a late-night road test at Arizona State before returning home to face Kansas State and Cincinnati.
With a 12-1 record at United Supermarkets Arena and a 4-2 mark in conference road games, the Red Raiders are positioning themselves for a strong postseason push.
If the current form holds, Texas Tech basketball won’t just be climbing rankings ... it’ll be chasing banners.
