Texas Tech and Texas meet again in the WCWS Finals, with NiJaree Canady and the Red Raiders chasing their first national title.
Texas Tech softball is back on the biggest stage, and the matchup could not be any louder.
The No. 11 Red Raiders will face No. 2 Texas in the Women’s College World Series Finals in Oklahoma City, setting up a heated championship rematch with history, revenge and a national title all sitting on the table.
Texas Tech enters the best-of-three WCWS Finals at 61-8 and two wins away from the first national championship in program history.
Texas, the defending national champion, comes in at 51-12 after surviving its own elimination fight. Game 1 is set for Wednesday night at Devon Park, with Games 2 and 3, if needed, scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
This is not just another Big 12-flavored softball showdown.
Texas beat Texas Tech in three games to win the 2025 national championship, and the Longhorns have dominated the all-time series, 65-13.
But the Red Raiders proved last year they could bloody Texas’ nose, snapping a 15-game losing streak in the series with a 4-3 WCWS Finals win before Texas answered with a 10-4 title-clinching victory.
Now Tech gets another shot, and this version looks dangerous. The Red Raiders had to rip through No. 1 Alabama twice on Monday to get here.
Mia Williams delivered a walk-off home run in a 5-4 win, then ace NiJaree Canady slammed the door with a complete-game shutout in a 2-0 elimination victory.
Canady has been a monster in Oklahoma City, earning all four Texas Tech wins while striking out 23 over 21 1/3 innings.
The numbers behind this lineup are ridiculous. Texas Tech leads the nation with 672 hits, ranks second with a .377 batting average and sits third nationally with 143 home runs.
The Red Raiders also have 635 runs and a staggering 37 run-rule wins.
Williams has been the thunder, leading Tech with 26 home runs, 24 doubles and 85 RBIs. Mihyia Davis has been the spark, hitting .478 in the WCWS with nine hits and ranking third nationally with 100 hits this season.
Jackie Lis adds 21 homers and 75 RBIs, while Jasmyn Burns, Desirae Spearman, Taylor Pannell, Lagi Quiroga and Lauren Allred give Tech power everywhere.

Texas is loaded, too. Katie Stewart has 30 home runs and 77 RBIs, Kayden Henry is hitting .402 with 82 hits, and Teagan Kavan brings a 27-6 record with 249 strikeouts.
The Longhorns have the crown. The Red Raiders have the momentum. This rematch has heavyweight fight written all over it.
