Texas Tech stars Adam Bresnu and Tim Wiedemeyer are back on the Haskins Award radar after matching 70.0 scoring averages and standout junior seasons.
Texas Tech men’s golf isn’t sneaking up on anyone anymore.
Adam Bresnu and Tim Wiedemeyer were both named to the 2026 Haskins Award preseason watch list, giving the Red Raiders two of the 25 golfers being tracked for one of college golf’s biggest individual honors.
And both have the numbers to justify the attention.
Bresnu and Wiedemeyer finished last season tied for the best scoring average on the Texas Tech roster at 70.0, while each posted a 68.6 adjusted scoring average according to Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
For Bresnu, consistency was his calling card.
He played all 12 tournaments for Texas Tech, recorded four top-five finishes, six top-10s and nine top-20s while firing 17 rounds in the 60s.
His best stretch included a runner-up finish at The Prestige and a tie for fifth at the Amer Ari Invitational, where he finished 17-under at 199.
Bresnu also twice posted rounds of 7-under 65, helping him earn First-Team All-Big 12, Third-Team All-America and PING All-Region honors.
Wiedemeyer brought something different to the equation: a trophy.
He captured his first collegiate victory at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, shooting 6-under 204 across three rounds and breaking 70 every day.
That wasn't his only highlight.
Wiedemeyer led Texas Tech with 27 rounds of par or better, matched Bresnu with six top-10 finishes and twice shot a career-low 64.
One of those came in spectacular fashion at the Amer Ari Invitational, where he closed with an 8-under 64.
Like Bresnu, Wiedemeyer earned First-Team All-Big 12 and Third-Team All-America recognition.
Their inclusion on the Haskins list also reinforces how far Texas Tech’s golf program has climbed.
The Red Raiders had Bresnu, Wiedemeyer and Connor Graham on Haskins Award watch lists last season, and the program already owns one of the trophy’s most recognizable recent winners. F

That history raises the bar.
The Haskins Award has been presented since 1971, with past winners combining for more than 400 professional victories and 33 major championships.
Bresnu and Wiedemeyer are still months away from deciding anything.
But after what they accomplished last season, Texas Tech enters 2026-27 with two legitimate candidates for college golf’s biggest individual prize.
And neither one needs much of a leap to become a serious contender.
