Texas Tech basketball is back in the national spotlight - and this time, it feels permanent.
The Red Raiders climbed to No. 10 in the latest Associated Press Top 25, marking their highest regular-season ranking this year and extending a program-record streak to 26 consecutive weeks in the AP poll.
After an 82-73 road win over then-No. 4 Iowa State - Tech’s third top-five victory this season - the Red Raiders (22-7, 12-4 Big 12) are surging at exactly the right moment.
They also sit No. 10 in the Coaches Poll, No. 13 in the NCAA NET and KenPom rankings, and were tabbed as a No. 4 seed (13th overall) in the NCAA Selection Committee’s early top-16 reveal.
Christian Anderson continues to author one of the most complete seasons in college basketball.
The Wooden and Naismith Award watch-list guard is averaging 19.4 points and a Big 12-best 7.7 assists per game, good enough for third nationally.
He has 215 assists this season, closing in on the school’s single-season record, and has now hit 96 3-pointers, breaking a 29-year-old program mark.
Donovan Atwell has been equally lethal. He ranks third nationally with 110 made threes and is shooting 46.2 percent from deep, also third in the country.
Together, Atwell and Anderson form one of the most dangerous backcourts in America, combining volume with efficiency.
Texas Tech leads the Big 12 and ranks fifth nationally with 11.5 made 3-pointers per game, converting 39.5 percent as a team.
They’ve hit double-digit 3s in 23 of 29 games and have already knocked down 333 triples this season - the second-most in school history.
Under Grant McCasland, who owns a 73-27 record at Tech and a dominant 44-6 home mark, the Red Raiders have transformed into a modern offensive machine without sacrificing defensive edge.
They average 82.0 points per game while holding opponents to 72.2.
From a preseason No. 10 ranking to an Elite Eight finish last year and now a 26-week AP streak, this program has shifted from hopeful to habitual contender.
And with Selection Sunday looming, Texas Tech basketball isn’t just climbing, it’s hunting.
