Texas Tech softball fell 10-2 to Florida in Gainesville, setting up a decisive Super Regional finale with a Women’s College World Series berth at stake.

Texas Tech softball now has no safety net left.

The Red Raiders dropped Game 2 of the Gainesville Super Regional on Saturday, falling 10-2 to No. 6 Florida after the Gators’ offense exploded late and forced a winner-take-all showdown.

Texas Tech is still sitting at a monster 56-7, but Florida’s 52-11 group made it clear this series isn’t going quietly.

The trouble started immediately. Florida opened with a leadoff walk and a two-run homer, jumping ahead 2-0 before Texas Tech could settle in. NiJaree Canady responded with three straight strikeouts, but the early punch mattered.

Florida added another run in the third, and Jasmyn Burns answered with a sacrifice fly to get Texas Tech on the board.

The Red Raiders kept pushing in the fourth when Lagi Quiroga drove in a run on a fielder’s choice, cutting the deficit to 5-2 after another Mia Williams hit-by-pitch helped load the bases.

That was the moment Texas Tech nearly flipped the entire game. Burns came within a few feet of a grand slam, but instead of a Red Raiders eruption, Florida escaped.

Then the fifth inning turned brutal.

The Gators poured on four runs to stretch the lead to 9-2 and effectively ripped control away.

Jocelyn Erickson and Kenleigh Cahalan led the damage, combining for six hits and five RBI as Florida kept pressure on every Texas Tech arm.

Canady took the loss, falling to 24-6 after allowing five runs on five hits with five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Samantha Lincoln finished the final 3.1 innings for the Red Raiders.

Offensively, Mihyia Davis gave Texas Tech a spark by going 2-for-3, while Lauren Allred added the team’s lone extra-base hit with a double.

But Florida’s Keagan Rothrock controlled the game, throwing all seven innings with six hits allowed and five strikeouts to improve to 30-6.

Now it’s simple and savage.

Texas Tech and Florida meet again with a Women’s College World Series trip on the line. One game. One ticket. No excuses.
