Texas Tech softball returns to Lubbock after winning another Big 12 title, hosting Tarleton State behind NiJaree Canady and KT Terry.

No. 2/5 Texas Tech softball is finally back in Lubbock, and the Red Raiders are coming home with serious momentum.

Texas Tech returns to Tracy Sellers Field tonight at 6 p.m. for its first home game since April 4, hosting a dangerous Tarleton State team that’s still chasing a WAC title.

The Red Raiders enter at 47-4 overall and 19-2 in Big 12 play after sweeping Arizona State to clinch their second straight Big 12 regular-season championship.

It’s been a grind. Tech played two extended road stretches, first six games in six days and then five games in five days. Now, the Red Raiders won’t leave home again during the regular season.

Tarleton State won’t be an easy reset opponent. The Texans are 34-18 overall, 12-3 in WAC play and have won 13 of their last 17 games since previously facing Texas Tech. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 4-1, including a win earlier this season.

Mihyia Davis continues to be one of college softball’s most complete veterans. Among active players, she ranks first in hits with 330, at-bats with 810 and stolen bases with 136. She’s also second in runs scored with 230 and is the only active player with 300 career hits.

NiJaree Canady remains the ace of the sport. The reigning National Pitcher of the Year recently passed 1,000 career strikeouts and is the only active pitcher with 1,000 strikeouts and 90 wins.

Kaitlyn “KT” Terry has been just as valuable, hitting .485 while posting a 1.47 ERA and a 19-1 pitching record. Jackie Lis has also powered the lineup with 15 home runs this season and 59 in her career.

For Gerry Glasco’s team, the message is simple: finish strong at home.
