Texas Tech opens its spring finale to fans Friday night as Joey McGuire’s revamped 2026 roster takes the field for its first public showing.

Texas Tech football will give fans its first live look at the 2026 Red Raiders on Friday night when Joey McGuire’s team closes spring practice inside Jones AT&T Stadium.

The Texas Tech Spring Game kicks off at 6 p.m., and with free admission, it’s a prime chance for Red Raider fans to get an early read on a roster that’s been reshaped for another big year in Lubbock.

This won’t be a traditional spring game with a final score and full game flow, but it should still offer plenty to watch. McGuire plans to run the Red Raiders through a variety of competitive team periods over roughly 90 minutes, including red-zone work, third-and-long situations, a two-minute drill, 7-on-7 passing, and 9-on-7 run-heavy segments.

That setup should give fans a better feel for how Texas Tech wants to play in 2026.

A lot of the attention will naturally fall on quarterback Brendan Sorsby, one of the biggest new faces on the roster.

But he won’t be the only player worth tracking. Texas Tech also overhauled its defensive line and wide receiver group during the offseason, adding even more intrigue to a spring showcase that could highlight one of the nation’s strongest transfer portal hauls.

There’s also plenty of returning talent expected to be in the spotlight. All-America defensive lineman A.J. Holmes Jr. headlines a list that includes running backs J’Koby Williams and Cameron Dickey, linebackers Ben Roberts and John Curry, and safety Brenden Jordan.

For fans hoping to see how veteran production mixes with new arrivals, Friday should offer some early answers.

The night will also include a nod to Texas Tech tradition. Several former letterwinners, including members of the program’s Big 12 championship team, are expected back, and the staff will hand out team awards from the 2025 season during a break in the scrimmage.

For Texas Tech, it’s not about the final score. It’s about showing what this next team might become.
