No. 25 Texas Tech women's soccer finally found itself in unfamiliar territory Sunday. Then the Red Raiders responded like a team that expects to win.
Texas Tech erased a 1-0 halftime deficit with three second-half goals to beat No. 13 Colorado 3-1 at the John Walker Soccer Complex, giving the Red Raiders their highest-ranked victory since 2024.
Tech entered the match having trailed for just 3 minutes, 34 seconds all season, but Colorado forced the Red Raiders to chase the game for the first time at halftime.
That didn't last long.
Sophomore Raleigh Greason equalized after a service from Emma Torres, taking one touch before slipping a low shot inside the far post for her second goal of the season.
Then Texas Tech took over.
Taylor Zdrojewski scored the go-ahead goal after Millie Elwood sent a long ball forward. Zdrojewski fought through contact and finished through goalkeeper Brook Goerish for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
The Red Raiders added another in the 70th minute when Sophie Neves drove into the penalty area and sent a dangerous ball across goal. The service deflected off Colorado defender Faith Leyba and into the net.
Three goals. One half. Complete turnaround.
It was Texas Tech's first three-goal half against a Big 12 opponent since a 7-0 win over Oklahoma in 2021.
Goalkeeper Addie Todd made sure the comeback held.
Todd finished with eight saves, including a sprawling stop on an 88th-minute penalty kick. It was the most saves by a Texas Tech goalkeeper since Faith Nguyen recorded nine against Duke in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The victory improved Texas Tech to 6-0-4 overall and 2-0-1 in Big 12 play while extending its unbeaten streak to 15 matches dating back to last season.
It also snapped a long drought against Colorado. Tech hadn't beaten the Buffaloes since 2010 and entered Sunday just 3-12-2 in the all-time series.
The Red Raiders now own 51 victories since the beginning of the 2023 season, fourth-most nationally over that span.
Texas Tech didn't simply survive adversity Sunday. It answered it emphatically.
