This week saw two roster additions in Krista Gerlich's program with just a month left of offseason training.
LUBBOCK -- In the short time left before the start of the season, Texas Tech head coach Krista Gerlich is still adding to the 2026-27 roster.
Over the past week, Texas Tech has announced signings of fifth-year transfer Mya Petticord and international star Martina Anyango, who will each join the program this upcoming season.
Petticord is a part of a lawsuit in Indiana that grants her a temporary injunction and an additional year of eligibility following the NCAA's new 5-for-5 rule.
At Auburn last season, Petticord made 28 starts and was a steady offensive contributor, averaging 7.7 points per game.
Nicknamed "Money", Petticord is a native of Detroit and was a four-star point guard prospect in the class of 2022. Her collegiate career began at Texas A&M and included a two-year stint at Rutgers before joining Auburn last season.
A 6-4 post player from Uganda, Anyango comes to Lubbock after a successful career in the National Basketball League, where she took home playoff MVP honors in a title run with the Uganda Christian Univeristy Lady Canons after averaging a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double.
Acclaimed as one of the best interior players in East Africa, Anyango also brings experience in FISU 3x3 competition.
Anyango has a two-way skill set that earned her all-league and defensive team recognition throughout her career. She is not yet listed on the Lady Raiders' official roster, but is expected to join the 7-foot center from Nigera, Stephanie Okechekwu, who will be making her highly-anticipated debut this season after coming to Texas Tech from overseas.
In fact, Gerlich deploys a nearly brand-new roster from the NCAA tournament team a year ago.
This year's team features six freshmen, six transfers and just two returners, Okechekwu and senior Jalynn Bristow, in addition to Anyango on the roster.
The 2025-26 team, which started 19-0 and took the program dancing for the first time since 2013, was made up of nine seniors.
Texas Tech has an exhibition scheduled against Division II Angelo State on Oct. 18 at United Supermarkets Arena.
The Lady Raiders' regular season begins on Nov. 5 at home against Charlotte.
