Jha'Quan Jackson will look to make a big jump in his NFL career.
One former Tulane Green Wave standout is adding a new chapter to his NFL career.
Wide receiver and kick returner Jha'Quan Jackson has signed with the Houston Texans, just one day ahead of the start of OTAs. A sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Jackson spent his rookie season with the Tennessee Titans. He recorded just one reception on the year for eight yards, but he totaled 28 punt returns and 16 kick returns during that stretch.
Jackson bounced around a bit in 2025, with a short stint with the New England Patriots in the offseason and some time on the New Orleans Saints practice squad. Now, there's hope that he can make a name for himself and find some success within the Texans franchise.
Prior to his professional career, Jackson was a solid wideout for the Green Wave. He made his mark as early as 2019, when the then-freshman appeared in eight games and totaled two receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown.
The 5-foot-9, 188-pound speedster made a massive jump in his sophomore year, with a team-high eight touchdown receptions, 31 total receptions and 425 receiving yards. Additionally, he finished the season with 788 all-purpose yards.
Jackson showed even more growth during the 2021 season, finishing the year with 1,003 all-purpose yards and shifting his focus more towards a role as a return specialist. However, he remained a threat through the air, recording one touchdown reception and 294 receiving yards on 17 catches. Jackson was named to the Phil Steele All-American Athletic Conference Fourth Team.
2022 proved to be another big year for Jackson. He was named to the 2022 Phil Steele Preseason All-American Athletic Conference second team as a punt returner... an honor that he would receive from the conference itself at the end of the season. The wideout totaled 33 catches for 554 yards and three touchdowns, and he also added 21 punt returns for 213 yards and a touchdown. In fact, his 90-yard touchdown return against the Memphis Tigers second-longest in school and conference history.
Jackson capped off an impressive collegiate career with a strong 2023 campaign. Despite missing four games due to an injury, he finished the year with 26 receptions for 439 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 16.88 yards per catch.
At this point, Jackson undoubtedly has something to prove. He'll look to make his mark with the Texans, and show the league just how much potential he has.
