The Tulane Green Wave have nine active players in the league that are making a statement.

The Tulane Green Wave have a solid contingent of former players in the league who are continuing to make a splash on NFL Sundays.

And on Thursdays, at that. The Cleveland Browns defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 27-24 thriller that saw a lot of Browns defensive linemen go down.

That allowed a major opportunity for former Green Wave bandit Adin Huntington, who came in and had his best performance of the season for Cleveland with his first sack of the year along with one solo and four total tackles.

He now has 11 total tackles, three solo, and one sack on the year.

There are several other former Tulane players in the league to pay attention to as the Green Wave football team takes the weekend off for their bye week.

Linebacker Dorian Williams is with the Buffalo Bills, kicker Cairo Santos is with the Chicago Bears, safety Caleb Ransaw is on the Jacksonville Jaguars, defensive end Patrick Johnson is with the Las Vegas Raiders, punter Ryan Wright is with the New Orleans Saints, wide receiver Darnell Mooney is with the New York Giants, and both cornerback Micah Robinson and running back Tyjae Spears are with the Tennessee Titans.

Williams has really played well since being drafted by the Bills in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft and has worked his way into the starting lineup. Buffalo will play the New England Patriots at 12:00 pm CT on Sunday.

Also on the Sunday slate at 12:00 pm are Santos and the Bears against the New York Jets, Ransaw and the Jaguars against the Cincinnati Bengals, Mooney and the Giants against the Arizona Cardinals, and Robinson, Spears and the Titans against the Baltimore Ravens.

At 3:05 pm CT will be Johnson and the Raiders against the Kansas City Chiefs in an undefeated AFC clash.

Rounding out the list of former Green Wave players is Ryan Wright, who will be punting for the Saints on their special 20-year anniversary of the homecoming game in 2006 – and the blocked punt – against the Atalanta Falcons on Monday night at 7:15 pm CT.

That’s a total of nine players in the league, all coming from former head coaches Willie Fritz and Jon Sumrall’s former teams except for Santos.

Williams, Johnson, Wright, Mooney, and Spears came from Fritz, while Huntington, Ransaw, and Robinson came from the program under Sumrall.

That shows how critical the last few seasons of Tulane football have been and the importance of those coaches to the program. Having active players in the league on NFL Sunday is essential to successful recruiting, and those coaches ensured that legacy.
