Six Tulane student-athletes across beach volleyball and bowling earned CSC Academic All-District honors, with all six previously named to the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Now that all of college sports are on hiatus for the offseason as all gear up for their next, the Tulane Green Wave student-athletes are crushing it in the classroom just as much as on the field, court, whatever be it.
As a university that is highly touted for its academics, it’s crucial to be able to succeed in that aspect, no matter if an athlete has pro aspirations.
For the Green Wave, that meant seeing six student-athletes named CSC Academic All-District At-Large honorees to illustrate the program’s athletic and academic excellence.
For women, they are recognized in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First up are five beach volleyball players along with one bowler. The quintet of Tulane beach volleyball athletes is Amirah Ali, McKenzie Cutler, Skylar Ensign, Katie Hansen, and Sam O’Connor. They are joined by bowler Sarah Rubi on that list.
Ensign also recently won the Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year for beach volleyball.
Those six Tulane athletes are eligible for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot in which the first, second, and third teams will be announced on July 7.
All honorees were named to the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll, showing real classroom achievements across both programs.
Rubi, Ensign, and O'Connor also earned the conference's highest individual academic honor with CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
Rubi also received CUSA All-Academic Team recognition.
It shows that, in addition to athletic excellence, that the program is committed to a culture that also reflects academic excellence.
On the court, the athletes also shine. Ensign and Hansen earned first-team All-CUSA honors while Ali landed on the second team. Ensign was one half of the CUSA Pair of the Tournament while she, Hansen, and Ali all earned spots on the CUSA All-Tournament Team
In addition, Ensign and Hansen received AVCA Top Flight recognition which is a national distinction awarded to elite beach volleyball pairs.
Cutler and O’Connor made program history when they became the first Tulane pairing to ever claim a set in the NCAAs winning the first set at the fourth flight against eventual national champions UCLA Bruins.
The team won the 2026 CUSA Championship and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history, culminating in a No. 20 finish in the AVCA coaches poll.
Rubi represents the Wave’s bowling program, one that ranked inside the top 25 through the entirety of the 2025-26 season. The Wave finished the year ranked No. 18 nationally.
It’s great recognition following a landmark spring for Tulane athletes with both sports delivering historic seasons that have now transposed past the court.
