The Tulane women's basketball team has added six transfers to build around a core of five returning players.
The Tulane Green Wave women’s basketball team has had an unquiet offseason as they gear up for head coach Ashley Langford’s third season, and that was bolstered by the recent addition of six transfer portal players to complete their 2026-27 roster construction.
The group includes two sophomores, two juniors, and two redshirt seniors, and the newcomers will join a core of five returners headlined by American All-Newcomer Team member Kanija Daniel.
They have three frontcourt additions, starting with Nevada’s Makayla Carter. The 6-foot-2 forward from Tucson, Ari., averaged 3.6 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game as a freshman and is touted for being a high-energy, versatile defender.
Next is Mississippi State Bulldogs’ Nataliyah Gray. The 6-foot-3 forward from Houston had an impressive 22 points per game career average in high school and will bring size and competitiveness to the floor.
Davidson’s Edina Strausz rounds out the trio as a 6-foot-3 forward from Budapest, Hungary and has a career 58 percent shooting clip. She averaged 4.9 points per game and 2.2 rebounds at Davidson but shined as the national team captain for Hungary U17/U18 in 2022 and 2023.
They added three backcourt members beginning with Georgetown’s Khadee Harrison. The 5-foot-9 guard made the Big East All-Freshman team in 2024 to 2025. She has 96 career steals in 58 games and brings instincts on defense.
DePaul’s Aizhanique Mayo is also a 5-foot-9 guard. She led Xavier in made threes with 38 in 2023-24 and again in 2024-25 with 53. With more than 500 career points, the tested Big East shooter will stretch the floor.
Rounding out the backcourt additions is Charleston Southern’s Asha Sra, who is a third straight 5-foot-9 guard. Sra led the Big South with 121 assists and 4.7 assists per game last season, and also notched three double doubles, earning her title as an elite floor general.
These six will join the returning core of five, which include American All-Newcomer senior Kanija Daniel, senior Jayda Brown, junior Sadie Shores, sophomores Shiloh Kimpson and Madison Gordon. The program will also welcome freshmen newcomers Ja'Kyah Smith and Kennedy Simpson. The incoming transfers will add to Langford’s goal of building depth and experience up in every position group ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Parsing through Langford’s quotes on each of the signings, it’s clear that the program is emphasizing energy, competitiveness, passing ability, and, coincidentally or not, Big East experience. It’s clear that the portal class was shaped to complement the team’s returning talent and help them compete in the American Conference.
