The Green Wave dropped to 9-11 on the year with the loss and has now lost seven of its last eight games.

At the beginning of the season, things looked somewhat solid for the Tulane Green Wave on the diamond.

Unfortunately for the program, that has since fallen apart.

The Green Wave dropped its latest weekend series to the Creighton Bluejays, being swept across all three games. With the trio of losses, the program is now 9-11 on the season and has dropped seven of its last eight matchups.

Each game between Tulane and Creighton was uniquely different, but two things were the same: the Green Wave fell behind early in every contest and failed to take advantage of the many opportunities it had to make some noise late.

The first game of the series got off to a tough start, as the Bluejays scored six runs in the top of the first inning to put the home team in a hole early. Starting pitcher Trey Cehajic, who has largely been one of the team's standout players so far this year, surrendered all six runs in just 0.2 innings on five hits, two walks and two hit batters.

Down but not out, Tulane fought back offensively. The Green Wave scored two runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the sixth inning. Meanwhile, the team's bullpen held strong, allowing no runs through the ninth inning. Trailing 6-4 in the bottom of the ninth, Tanner Chun stepped up in a massive way for the program, driving in a pair of runs on a double to tie the game at six and force extra innings. The Bluejays would take the lead for the final time in the top of the 12th inning on a two-out, two-run home run and ultimately secure the 8-6 win.

Game two saw another quick start for Creighton. The visiting squad put up two runs in the top of the first inning... and that would ultimately be all that it needed to win. Tulane scored its only run of the day on a double by Johnny Elliott that drove in Nate Johnson. Otherwise, the Green Wave had seven hits and left countless runners on base in the 2-1 loss.

Though the series was already lost, Tulane at least had the chance to avoid the sweep in Sunday's third game. Once again, things quickly got out of hand. The Bluejays scored one run in each of the first four innings of the game to take a 4-2 lead. Though the Green Wave was able to even the score with a pair of runs in the seventh, once again, the team couldn't close out the game. Creighton loaded the bases with one out in the top of the ninth and scored the go-ahead run on a fielding error, ultimately winning 5-4 following another unproductive ending to the game by the home team.

Up next, Tulane has a rematch with the New Orleans Privateers -- a team that it lost to 11-3 back on February 24th. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
