The Tulane Green Wave will see its season come to an end on Saturday.

Tulane dropped the second game of its weekend series against the Rice Owls by a score of 10-6 on Friday. With the loss -- and thanks to a few other Friday outcomes across league action --  the team is will officially miss the American Conference Tournament.

Sam Larson fell to 2-3 on the year following the loss. The starting pitcher lasted just 1.2 innings on the mound, giving up four runs on four hits with two walks and one strikeout. Five other relievers saw action for the visiting squad, and the pitching staff combined for a grand total of 11 hits and seven walks with just five strikeouts.

The Green Wave was able to strike in the top of the first inning with a sacrifice fly by Trent Liolios. However, Rice would quickly tie that up in the bottom of the frame and took a commanding 5-1 lead by the end of the third inning.

Down but not out, Tulane managed to get a run back on a solo home run by Hugh Pinkney in the fourth inning. The Owls responded with a pair of RBI in the home half of the frame to push the lead back to 7-2. Tanner Chun's sacrifice fly in the fifth would make it a 7-3 game, but once again, Rice pushed the lead back out to five runs on a solo home run.

The Sluggerbirds would find a way to make things interesting over the next few innings. Liolios doubled in the sixth to drive in a pair of runs and cut the deficit to 8-5, and James Agabedis blasted a solo home run in the eighth inning to get his team within two. Unfortunately for the Green Wave, the Owls tacked on the final two insurance runs en route to the victory.

Liolios ended the night 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI, while Matthias Haas went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Kaikea Harrison and Agabedis also had multi-hit nights with two base knocks apiece. All in all, the offense had 11 total hits and four walks but struck out 10 times.

Much to the disappointment of players, coaches and fans, Tulane will wrap up its 2026 season on Saturday afternoon as it faces Rice to conclude the weekend series. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. CT.
