The Green Wave has added a trio of guards out of the transfer portal.
It's been a tough offseason for the Tulane Green Wave basketball program.
Star player Rowan Brumbaugh entered the portal and has since committed to play for the SMU Mustangs. Additionally, Scotty Middleton, Luke Rasmussen Curtis Williams Jr. and Asher Woods have all entered -- the last of which is still searching for an extra year of eligibility.
With so little production returning from a 2025-2026 team that didn't reach its full potential, head coach Ron Hunter is looking at another total rebuild; the coach likely can't afford another disappointing season if he wants to keep his job.
After an extremely slow start to the transfer portal period, Tulane has managed to pick up a solid trio in TJ Nadeau, Ryan Blount and Krystian Lewis.
The first of these is Nadeau, who spent his first two seasons with the Detroit Mercy Titans. The rising junior averaged 13.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game this past season while averaging roughly 47-percent from the three-point line, and he's shown the potential to be a major difference maker for his team. He's also got great size as a guard, standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 205 pounds.
The Green Wave appears to be doubling up on tall guards -- if you thought Nadeau was tall, then you'll be impressed to hear that University of Tampa Spartans transfer Ryan Blount has him beat. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 205 pounds, Blount averaged 21 points per game to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists as a sophomore during his 2025-2026 campaign. That's the kind of offensive performance that could make up for what the program lost when Brumbaugh transferred out, though Blount might not be quite as efficient.
University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks transfer Krystian Lewis is the third player to head to Uptown so far. He's yet another strong guard for the program, averaging 18.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game during his time in Monroe. Additionally, the rising junior rarely slowed down and played an average of just over 36 minutes per contest.
Adding three prolific guards is good for the Green Wave, but the program will need to find a way to boost its defense as well. It's no secret that the team has struggled in the paint in recent years, and it would be good for the program to find a few solid post players as soon as possible. In the meantime, there's hope that these big additions can bring winning basketball back to Uptown.
