The Green Wave has now dropped four-straight American Conference games after a promising start to league play.

Things continue to go down hill on the hardwood for the Tulane Green Wave.

The Green Wave dropped its fourth-straight game with a 73-70 loss to the Charlotte 49ers on Friday night. The team managed to keep things close through much of the first half -- and even trailed by one point at halftime -- but things quickly got out of control in the second half.

Despite the team's best effort, a double-digit deficit that built up throughout the second half was too much to overcome. Tulane was able to go on a quick run to cut things close in the final few minutes of action, but it was too little, too late. With the loss, the team is now 12-8 on the season and 3-4 in conference play.

While it goes down in the books as another blow to what could've been a promising season for the program, there was a singular bright spot in the game. Standout player Rowan Brumbaugh posted a career high 35 points in the matchup, going 11-of-15 from the field and 12-of-13 from the charity stripe. He also led the team with five rebounds.

The only other player to score in double-figures for the visiting squad was Asher Woods, who finished the night with 10 points. As for the rest of the starting lineup, Curtis Williams Jr. had seven points and three rebounds, while Percy Daniels had six points and three rebounds. Scotty Middleton rounded out the starters, but he recorded just one rebound in 23 minutes of action.

Luke Rasmussen provided a bit of a spark off the bench with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers, and two rebounds in just seven minutes of action. As a whole, the team went 4-for-21 from the three-point line. KJ Greene and Davion Bradford combined for four points.

Alarmingly, the Green Wave also totaled just five assists -- and those came from only two players . Greene had four of those assists off the bench, and Daniels added one. If it helps any, the team did only have nine turnovers on the night as opposed to Charlotte's 13.

Tulane brought down just 16 total rebounds on the night, with 14 of those coming on defense. The 49ers more than doubled that total with 33 rebounds, and they also outperformed the Green Wave in field-goal percentage and three-point percentage.

At this point, things are beginning to look worse and worse with each passing game. The outings have been ugly, and the alarming stats back it up. Despite the level of talent on the team, it has the same problems each week with no change -- that issue goes far beyond the student-athletes that suit up in the Olive Green and Sky Blue.

Up next, Tulane faces another tough test in the South Florida Bulls -- a program that sits at 4-2 in American play. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28th, in Uptown.
