The Tulane Green Wave beach volleyball team is prepping to host the Bayou Beach Duals.

The Tulane Green Wave beach volleyball team is one of the soaring Olympic sports for the school, and the team will return back to White Sands Volleyball Courts this weekend to prepare for their second of three home tournaments, the Bayou Beach Duals. It’s a two-day tournament that will have seven total teams compete over Friday and Saturday. Live scoring is available on Volleyball Life, and the live streaming of the matches taking place on courts 1-3 will air on Sporfie.

The Green Wave enter the weekend 6-7 after falling 1-3 this past weekend in the Chanticleer Challenge. They are still receiving votes once again in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, getting three total. Tulane will host three other schools from Louisiana and six total teams: Central Arkansas (4-7), McNeese State (9-2), Nicholls State (6-4), Southeastern Louisiana (2-7), Texas A&M – Kingsville (9-2), and UTEP (2-6). Of the competitors in the tournament, the Green Wave are the only ones receiving votes in the AVCA poll.

The Wave kicked off early Friday morning against Central Arkansas at 8:30 am, and Tulane swept them 5-0. Leading duo Skylar Ensign and Molly Trodd lead the way at the second flight with the duo going 9-3 this season, and Ensign and Trodd put the Wave up 1-0. Gigi Gallegos and Avery Burks, who are tied for the second-most wins on the squad with 7-4 overall and a 5-2 record at the fourth flight, put the Wave up 2-0 with their sweep. Emma Morris and Katie Hansen are the top flight for the Wave and are tied with Gallegos and Burks for the second-most wins on the squad behind Ensign and Trodd. Morris and Hansen put the Wave up 3-0 to coast to their 5-0 victory.

They will now face the UTEP Miners at 1:30 pm on Friday afternoon, which will precede a dual contested after their matchup. The day will close out with a free kids clinic. Saturday’s action will also kick off bright and early at 8:30 am, where Tulane will play all teams in the Pelican State. They’ll start against McNeese, face Nicholls at 1:30 pm, and will then move on to take on Southeastern Louisiana immediately after that at 4:00 pm, making for a full slate of a weekend for the Green Wave beach volleyball squad.

After the Bayou Beach Duals, Tulane will head to the West Coast to play in the ASICS Classic hosted by Pepperdine.
