Offensive lineman Jackson Shaw and defensive back James Tyson are the program's latest commitments.
The Tulane Green Wave is continuing to bring in some incredibly talented football players from the Class of 2027.
On Friday, Tulane grabbed a grand total of 10 -- yes, 10 -- commitments. Through much of the weekend, five of those commitments made official announcements on social media, including three-star wide receiver Ray'Quan Williams, tight end Teddy Graff, defensive lineman Kavarris "Duke" Duncan and running backs Peyton Perkins and Anquan Jackson. Quite a few of these players chose the Green Wave over some other solid programs in the American Conference, as well as Power Four teams.
Those are some pretty solid grabs, but they're only half of the commits that the Green Wave has reportedly picked up. Two more recruits made things official on Sunday, meaning that there are only three left who are a bit unknown at this point.
The sixth player officially joining the Olive Green and Sky Blue in 2027 is offensive lineman Jackson Shaw. The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder is a massive in-state grab for the program. Shaw chose Tulane over offers from the likes of the North Texas Mean Green, Houston Cougars and Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, among others.
One final player made his commitment official on Sunday: defensive back James Tyson. He's the second confirmed defensive commit of the weekend, and he brings elite speed to the backfield in Uptown. Tyson is a product of St. Charles Catholic in LaPlace, Louisiana, so he won't be straying too far from home. He held additional offers from the Nicholls Colonels, Cornell Big Red, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Arkansas State Red Wolves.
The final few recent grabs from the Class of 2027 should be known soon. It's possible that some have accepted offers ahead of upcoming official visits, which are set to ramp up a bit as the month continues. Regardless, Tulane's sure to add a few more solid pieces during that stretch, whether they are new commits or late announcers.
It can't be overstated just how much this continued success on the recruiting trail means to the Green Wave. Even with an entirely new coaching staff and plenty of fresh faces on the field, there is continued momentum within the program to continue its winning ways. The program truly has the upward trajectory to continue being a force in the American Conference for years to come.
That doesn't mean it'll be easy, or that this upcoming season will shake out anything like that historic 2025 season did, but as good players continue to buy into the program, the wins will just keep coming.
