The Tulane Green Wave announced a plan to name their starters for week one as they get into the third week of fall camp.

New Orleans, La. – The Tulane Green Wave will finally have some foundation laid ahead of the college football season when their first depth chart is set to be released next Monday, Aug. 24, as head coach Will Hall explained after the first Saturday scrimmage of fall camp.

That allows for five more practice sessions to get some answers as they look to settle things into starters and backups ahead of the season opener against the Duke Blue Devils in Raleigh, N.C. on Sept. 5.

Presumably, that will also include next Saturday’s second scrimmage that will hopefully give an edge as to what direction Hall and his offensive staff plan to go in at quarterback ahead of Week 1.

As we broke down in our Saturday scrimmage report on Day 9 of fall camp, nothing was really decided in the Green Wave’s quarterback competition, though it was clear how much the sustained drives helped each signal caller.

But it wasn’t clear whether or not the plan is to continue rolling with all four, and for how long, despite reporters trying to pry a bit for some answers on that front.

It’s a daunting task with just five days of evaluation left before they look to at least put things in place for the season opener.

Hall wasn’t even sure whether one would suffice or if they’ll roll with several against the Blue Devils.

And quarterback isn’t the only position that needs answers, though several position battles seem to be settling in a bit with some guys rolling consistently with the ones.

The main questions on defense are at strong safety, spear, one linebacker spot, and for now, the defensive end spot on the d-line.

Anthony Rodgers and E’zaiah Shine have been the consistent starting corners, with Jack Tchienchou at free safety, Chris Rodgers starting at linebacker, and Ed Smith and Derrick Shepard holding down first team reps at defensive tackle and nose tackle respectively.

Josh Lewis has been competing with Reshad Stirling at end, and a few injuries have paved the way for Jah’rie Garner at bandit.

Some guys are emerging in the tight end and wide receiver room, and an injury to Jamauri McClure has also left a door opening in the running back room for someone to try to dominate and at minimum solidify a spot at RB2.

So that first depth chart will either solidify or dispel a lot of the eye checks through fall camp thus far, and the hope Monday is that the extended reps on Saturday stuck and will produce a leader in at least one of those remaining question areas.
