The Green Wave benefit from a weeknight game for once as they are itching to get right against the Charlotte 49ers.

New Orleans, La. – The Tulane Green Wave have a short week ahead of their road matchup against the Charlotte 49ers, but perhaps that’s a good thing for them.

A team is always looking to get right after a loss, which is why they’re so hard to go into a bye week with.

It’s safe to say that this team just wants to put everything about that UTSA Roadrunners loss in the rear-view mirror.

So, there’s a benefit to being able to get back on track on a short week despite the wear-and-tear it has on guys’ bodies.

But, they also are looking to face a 49ers team that is peaking at their best time. After a winless start to the year, Charlotte finally got one over the Temple Owls, who are playing better football this year as well.

They’ve then been sitting with that on their bye week. Again, pros and cons to schedules.

They’re coming in off a position of strength, but it’s also a feeling they’re sort of chasing now at this point having to sit with it for two weeks.

Meanwhile, the Green Wave are looking to get rid of a feeling on their end, but it’s one they can still taste from a late Saturday night loss.

That all means that it’s a big game for both teams.

For the 49ers, they have five games left. They need six wins to become bowl eligible, and every game is a must-win from here on out as a result.

For different reasons, Tulane is in a must-win from here on out as well if they have any hopes at all of sniffing a conference championship.

They also need major help from other teams to get there. The only thing controllable is what they do from here on out.

That means playing a standard of football that was not at all there this last weekend against the Roadrunners, who were the better team in all three phases of the game.

It means not turning the ball over six games and having more than -5 net rushing yards heading into the fourth quarter of the game. It means receivers making crucial catches they just need to be making.

Tulane has to worry about not making this next game too big, and putting too much emotion into it, but they are also firmly out of time to not have a sense of urgency in everything they do from here on out.
