The Green Wave will debut a Mardi Gras-themed City Edition uniform against the South Alabama Jaguars.

The Tulane Green Wave is set to debut new City Edition uniforms against the South Alabama Jaguars... and these might be the most electric uniforms that the team has ever worn.

Dubbed "The King of Mardi Gras" City Edition, this uniform is everything that New Orleanians have hoped for.

Obviously, it features the holiday's iconic green, purple and gold colors. Though the shade of green featured on the jerseys and helmets  is certainly a lot brighter than the program's traditional Olive Green shade, it is arguably the perfect shade of Mardi Gras green.

Now, let's get into some more of the details.

The helmet is a work of art. It features the Angry Wave in a unique style, with a yellow and purple jester's hat complete with bells making up the Wave's crest. Beads are shown surrounding the mascot, and an argyle pattern adorns the stripe on the middle of the helmet. The front bumper features a king cake -- which must be a first in college football -- and the back bumper reads "Uptown" to pay tribute to the neighborhood's seasonal parade routes. Even the helmet's warning sticker has been redesigned to resemble the title signs seen on Mardi Gras floats.

The jersey and pants are just as iconic. The Angry Jester Wave returns in the form of patches on the pants and collar, and the argyle pattern is featured in those areas to form a cohesive look. The standard letters and numbers on each jersey have been transformed into a retro font with purple, green and gold shadows around them. Stitched beads hang from letters on each player's nameplate on the back of his jersey.

But the iconic nature of the uniforms doesn't end there.

They come during the home opener against South Alabama, a team that proudly hails from Mobile. There is constant debate about whether Mardi Gras originated in New Orleans or Mobile, with each city claiming the holiday as its own. As it stands now, Tulane has found a way to assert some dominance for the Big Easy.

Plus, the uniforms are a subtle dig at an old uniform worn by the Jaguars. Back in 2023, South Alabama wore Mardi Gras-themed helmet in its season-opener against the green Wave. Not only that, but the Jaguars were the road team in the matchup. Tulane wasn't phased by it and ultimately cruised to a 37-17 victory, and the team now has the opportunity to outdo their opponent with a much more detailed uniform.

Fans now have the opportunity to purchase a limited number of jerseys and helmets from the Wave Warehouse, with proceeds going to the Green Wave Talent Fund.
